PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

3 Levels of Training

 
 

The Basic Certificate stands on its own for personal/professional development, but also serves as the foundation for any of the diploma levels of training in Existential Analysis.

After completing the Basic Certificate, one could choose to follow any of the paths below:

  • Basic Certificate >>>> Counselling Diploma

  • Basic Certificate >>>> Counselling Diploma >>>> Psychotherapy Diploma

  • Basic Certificate >>>> Psychotherapy Diploma

Level 1

BASIC CERTIFICATE IN EXISTENTIAL ANALYSIS AND LOGOTHERAPY

Prerequisites:

  • BA or Master’s degree in psychology or related field (other professional training qualifications or experience may be accepted on a case by case basis)

  • Completion of all five days of The Introductory Seminars

  • Individual Admission Interview with a trainer

Seminar Days:

  • 50 - 54 basic seminar days

  • 2 ½ years

Topics:

  • The theory of personhood

  • The theory of existence

  • Existential motivations in theory and practice

  • Some general methods

  • Group self-experience

Level 2

COUNSELLING DIPLOMA IN EXISTENTIAL ANALYSIS AND LOGOTHERAPY

Prerequisites:

  • BA or Master’s degree in psychology or related field (other professional training qualifications or experience may be accepted on a case by case basis)

  • Completion of the Basic Certificate in Existential Analysis and Logotherapy

Seminar Days:

  • 7 clinical seminar days (in addition to Basic Certificate) that are focused on giving the clinician an overview of an Existential Analysis clinical perspective

  • 4 personal development days (includes attendance of special seminars/congresses related to existential analysis)

  • ½ year (total 3 years with Basic Certificate)

This level qualifies a person as a certified Existential Counsellor.

Level 3

PSYCHOTHERAPY DIPLOMA IN EXISTENTIAL ANALYSIS & LOGOTHERAPY

Prerequisites:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in psychology or related field (other professional training qualifications or experience may be accepted on a case by case basis)

  • Completion of the Basic Certificate in Existential Analysis and Logotherapy

Seminar Days:

  • 46 clinical seminar days (in addition to Basic Certificate)

  • 7 personal development days, which includes attendance of special seminars/congresses related to existential analysis (if one completed Counselling Diploma in Existential Analysis, they only need to do 3 personal development days at this level)

  • 2½ years (total 5 years with Basic Certificate)

Topics: seminars on clinical theory, diagnostics, treatmet, further methods and practical training on

  • anxieties

  • depression

  • personality disorders

  • addiction

  • psychosis

  • eating disorders

  • psychosomatics

  • non-clinical disturbances

This level qualifies a person as a certified Existential Analyst.





 
 
 
Professional Development - Existential Analysis Canada

CERTIFICATE & DIPLOMA

These 3 levels are part-time, with a maximum of 20 training days per year. They are designed to be managed alongside current occupations and/or other training (people-helping professions or studies in counselling and/or psychology).


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Basic Certificate and Counselling Diploma in Existential Analysis and Logotherapy:

BA or Master’s degree in psychology or related field (other professional training qualifications or experience may be accepted on a case by case basis).

Psychotherapy Diploma in Existential Analysis and Logotherapy:

Master’s degree or PhD in psychology or related field (other professional training qualifications or experience may be accepted on a case by case basis).


TRAINERS

Local Canadian trainers are responsible for the entire psychotherapeutic training based on the materials and guidance by Alfried Längle, M.D., Ph.D. They may draw upon various other training staff to facilitate and enrich the training experience.


COST

The cost of a seminar day is CAN $215. Each training year consists of 20 days.  Application fee (includes admissions interview) is $200. Other costs are self-paced, although it is recommended to participate in other aspects of the training alongside the seminars. Workshops, the Introductory seminars and special seminars may vary in fees.
