EA Canada Conference Update on Covid-19

Dear Friends of EA & Conference Participants,

Last evening the Conference Planning Committee met to discuss the status of the Inaugural EA Canada Conference, scheduled for May 8-10, 2020.

The Committee has decided to continue to proceed with the conference at this point.  Several considerations led to this decision, including the fact that our conference is likely to be small (100 or fewer participants), that the host institution, Trinity Western University (TWU), remains open, and that the vast majority of participants are likely to be from Canada.

At this point in time, there are no known cases of Covid-19 infection at TWU.  Furthermore, the BC Centre for Disease Control continues to rate the risk of infection as low.  Please see the following websites for information about Covid-19 at TWU and in BC:

TWU Covid-19 site https://www.twu.ca/news-events/news/covid-19-response-information

BC Centre for Disease Control http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/coronavirus-(novel)

Of course, the situation is dynamic and may change.  The Conference Planning Committee will continue to monitor the situation and make decisions in consultation with the TWU’s Covid-19 Response Team and the local health authorities.

In response to this extraordinary situation, we have agreed to relax some of our registration policies.  We had previously communicated to potential presenters that they needed to register by March 15, 2020, in order to secure their spot in the program.  We are now moving this deadline to April 15, 2020, in order to give greater flexibility.  Additionally, we want to let registrants know that we are happy to refund registration fees (minus processing fees) up until April 15, 2020.

The Conference Planning Committee will continue to keep you updated through our website, mailing list, and social media.

Should you have any question about this announcement or about your participation, please feel free to contact us at communications@existentialanalysis.ca

Best wishes,

Derrick Klaassen, Ph.D., R. Psych.
