PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

3 Levels of Training

1.

BASIC CERTIFICATE IN EXISTENTIAL ANALYSIS AND LOGOTHERAPY

  • 44 to 54 seminar days.

  • Duration ~ 2 ½ to 3 years.

This Basic Training Program consists of 44-54 training days (each group varies a little in days based on the length of experiential exercises/sharing and most groups lean toward the 54 days).

Instruction topics include the theory of personhood, the theory of existence, existential motivations in theory and practice, some general methods, and group-self-experience.
The Basic Certificate stands on its own for personal/professional development, but also serves as the foundation for the diploma levels of training in Existential Analysis.

**After completing the Basic Certificate, one could choose to either do the Counselling Diploma or Psychotherapy Diploma (each has its own set of requirements – one would not have to do both).**

2.

COUNSELLING DIPLOMA IN EXISTENTIAL ANALYSIS AND LOGOTHERAPY

  • 7 additional clinical seminar days (to the 44-54 days of the basic cert).

  • Plus 4 PD days (special seminars/congresses).

  • Duration ~ 3 to 3 ½ years total training time (includes supervision) for completion of all
    requirements.

To receive a Counselling Diploma in EA, a seminar of 7 days will follow the basic certification.  These days are focused giving the clinician an overview of an Existential Analysis clinical perspective. This level qualifies a person as a certified Existential Counsellor.

3.

PSYCHOTHERAPY DIPLOMA IN EXISTENTIAL ANALYSIS & LOGOTHERAPY

  • 36 to 46 additional seminar days (to the 44-54 days of the counselling diploma).

  • Plus 7 PD days (special seminars/congresses).

  • Duration ~ minimum 5-6 years, usually 6-7 years total training time including the counselling diploma (includes supervision) for completion of all requirements.

Training for the Psychotherapy Diploma continues for 2 more years with further seminars on clinical theory. These seminars cover diagnostics, further methods, practical training, and insight into main diagnosis like anxieties, depression, personality disorders, addiction, psychosis, and treatment of non-clinical disturbances. This level qualifies a person as a certified Existential Analyst.
